The CD1a antigen is a membrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 49 kDa expressed in association with b2-microglobulin. This antigen is found on cortical thymocytes (strongly), Langerhans cells and interdigitating cells. The CD1a antigen is also present on a B cell subset. CD1a antibodies are useful in the definition of the thymic stage of T cells. BL6 antibody recognizes the C epitope of the CD1a molecule. T6 antibody was evaluated during the First International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens. BL6 antibody was evaluated during the Third Workshop.
