Dear Colleagues,

I would like to get some pricing information. We are in the process of
an equipment upgrade at our Flow Cytometry Facility. We want to know the
market value of our current Flow Cytometer.

We have had a BD FACStar Plus since 1991. The machine has seven detectors
and two lasers (Coherent Innova 305, 306 series laser system). One is an
argon ion laser emitting a 488nm wavelength beam and the other is a dye
laser of variable wavelength. The machine also has an Automatic Cell
Deposition Unit (which allows for single cell cloning onto tissue culture
plates) and Pulse Processing Electronics for the measurement of signal
pulse height, width, and area (essential for doublet discrimination in DNA
analyses). The flow cytometer has also been upgraded with a Sort
Enrichment Module. All equipment has been under service contract with BD
(flow cytometer), Coherent Inc.(laser) and SMS Inc. (computer). It is in
good working order and is used everyday. We provide service for around 100
users in our medical center.

If you can tell us any information about this machine's current market
value, please e-mail me. It will help us make decision whether we should
trade in our machine with BD or sell it and buy new one.

By the way, any information about used FACSVantages for sale would also be
of interest to us.

Thanks in advance for any help.
