{Electron Microscopy Sciences (New Jersey address; can get later if someone
{needs it) sells a 16% solution of paraformaldehyde in 10 ml glass ampules.
{Simply add to 150 ml of PBS and you have a 1% solution ready to go. It does
{not need to be filtered and saves all the time needed to get the powder
into
{solution. Also, the powder can be considered toxic if breathed, so this
{eliminates the safety hazard. The cost is relatively low and worth the time
{savings. The 160 ml is usually used up quickly enough that storage (at room
{temp - does not need fridge) and age are not a problem. The glass ampules
are
{a nuisance but there are ampule cutters on the market to simplify the
chore.
{Give it a try!
