Pulse field gel electrophoresis is suitable for observing the 50-30 kbp
fragments of DNA observed in apoptotic cells. The Biorad equipment is
quite suitable. Field inversion gel electrophoresis is also appropriate and,
in our hands, slightly easier to handle.
If you want to observe oligomers of 200 bps (DNA 'ladder'), you
should use conventional DNA gel electrophoresis. Several people, including
myself, have published methods. I would suggest that you look up some of
Roy Walker's papers. Roy works in Ontario.
