Its been a while, but 15 years ago (when I was at the Sir william Dunn
School of Pathology in Oxford) we used to sort rat fetal liver and
bone marrow cells suspended in Percoll to stop them settling and
claging the system. There were no observed deterimental effects to
the cells (or the Facs II) and we reduced our blockage rate from more
than 3 or 4 times a sort to ZERO.
