It is possible to damage these tips with higher powered U.V. lasers if you
happen to accidently leave it in the laser path!!!!!
One trick to prevent build up of salt deposits is to flush the sample line and
tip with distilled water prior to instrument shutdown and then, once the
insrument is OFF, place a small tube (microfuge tube or cut-down test-tube)
containing water on top of the sort plates to keep the nozzle tip immersed in
water overnight (Thank-you Dave Small, BDIS, for this one). For longer periods
of "down time", it is better to run it dry.
