I would not expect light scatter pulse width to work. However, a
combination of forward scatter, side scatter and pulse rise-time
time-of-flight should work. Pulse rise-time is sensitive to the shape,
not just the diameter, of cells. If you have access to this measurement
on your flow cytometer, use start and stop thresholds of 5% and 35%
respectively for greatest sensitivity.

I tried to measure pulse width on a FACStar machine for this purpose. The
method was not able to differentiate from normal RBC's.
