detection of platelet microparticles

To all flow colleges,
I have been asked by one of our pathologists to look into the detection of
platelet microparticles using flow cytometry (with CD42b) as a diagnostic
test for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. He gave me an article by David
Lee et al: British Journal of Haematology, 1996, 95, 724-731 which includes
a procedure. However, as we all know, there is no such thing as a
straight-forward Flow procedure. So, my questions are:
1. has anybody had experience with this procedure/test and is willing to
share it?
2. is this a relatively easy procedure which can be incorporated into a
clinical lab (we do mostly DNA, CD4's, leukemia/lymphomas, and retics)
without spending too much time on getting the procedure "fine-tuned"?
3. what are the pitfalls?
4. Is the flow procedure widely accepted?
5. how is one reimbursed?
