A Biological Approach to Structural Optimization

Instructors: Charles H. Turner, Ph.D.; Ramana M. Pidaparti, Ph.D.

1. Course Description: This course will cover traditional structural
optimization methods as they are applied computationally. The focus will
be on newer biological growth-based algorithms that have proven efficient
for producing optimum shapes of solid and truss structures.

2. Objective: To provide students with a basic understanding
computational structural optimization and its applications.
