An introduction to research topics in electro- and biomedical acoustics.  Topics include sonic waveguides, sound radiation, room acoustics, sound measurement, digital audio, biomedical applications, and sound reinforcement applications.

Week            Topics
1	Introduction:  physics, wave equations, reflections.
2-3	Sonic waveguides:  propagation in pipes, electrical circuit analogies, acoustical filters, applications.
4	Radiation of sound: sources, spatial/frequency dependence (directivity, time delay spectrometry)
5-6 	Room acoustics: modal patterns, source interactions, early/late reflections, reverberation time estimations, ray tracing, applications.
7	Measurement: microphones, hearing, SPL.
8	Digital audio:  current trends, use of DSP, future technologies.
9-11	Biomedical applications:  heart sounds, lung sounds, joint sounds, muscle sounds, audiometric evaluation, acoustic guidance systems.
12-13	 Sound reinforcement applications:  system design methodologies and tradeoffs, intelligibility measures, array design (beamforming, shading, delay steering, DSP requirements), CAD tools for mapping SPL of direct sound field, design/simulation examples.
14-15	Student research paper presentations
