Coulter EPICS Elite ESP Cell Sorting System
The EPICS Elite ESP is the latest generation of the Elite product line. This high-performance instrument is a powerful tool for innovative research in immunobiology, cell physiology, molecular biology, genetics, water quality and plant cell physiology.
The Elite ESP (Enhanced System Performance) features the capability to analyze up to 6 simultaneous colors of immunofluorescence and perform equally complex multi-parameter applications such as DNA quantitation, physiologic measurements, chromosome enumeration and the study of the hematopoetic process. The cell sorting capability of the system allows for the rapid separation of very large numbers of specific cell populations from a heterogeneous mixture. Extremely high purities (greater than 99%) are achieved, even at high rates of analysis. Advanced options like the AUTO-CLONE® single cell deposition device complement the cell sorting capability of the instrument.
Extraordinarily adaptable and versatile, the Elite ESP offers a wide-open, industry standard optical platform that is user-configurable and customizable. The flexible nature of the optical design allows for the use of very low-cost, low-power air cooled, or high power water-cooled lasers as excitation devices. This feature is particularly valuable in cutting-edge research, where applications and trends change rapidly.
The Elite ESP is the only cell sorter to incorporate low-power air-cooled lasers, high resolution sense-in-quartz analysis and sorting, video sort setup and monitoring and IBM PC-compatible data acquisition, display and analysis. Its compact ergonomic design occupies a mere 21 square feet of laboratory space.
The Elite ESP offers enhanced low-level fluorescence detection, higher performance cell sorting (up to 99% purity at data rates of 15,000 cells per second) and barcode-driven data acquisition and analysis with the Panelyzer feature. In addition there is increased computational power with the inclusion of a Pentium 90 MHz data acquisition and display workstation with 16 MB of RAM. A powerful new complement of laser options, computing peripherals and software tools completes the package.
In keeping with the design philosophy of the instrumentation, current Elite customers can choose to upgrade their instruments to ESP-level.
