You could try the 'fixing and sphering' method developed by Langlois
et al 1990, Cytometry 11 513-521. Details also given in 'Red cells
and reticulocytes' Chapter 7 of 'Flow Cytometry : Clinical
Applications' Ed M.Macey, Blackwell Scientific Publications.
