Mouse reticulocytes

Can anyone suggest a method of detecting mouse reticulocytes which
would not interfere with simultaneous analysis of fluorescein in these
cells? We are analyzing transgenic lines which express LacZ in erythroid
cells and would like to distinguish expression in mature rbc vs. retics.
I gather neither Acridine Orange nor thiazole orange would work in this
setting. How about pyronin Y? Any other reagents? References to
protocols?

Thanks very much.
