Ray Hester (Univ. Alabama) askes about a suitable control bead for binding
mabs. We have recently been working with Abe Schwartz' "Simply Cellular"
beads (Flow Cytometry Standards Corp). These claim to bind just about
anything. We have had some success so far and are continuing to experiment.
We will post the results if anyone is interested. They are very expensive
but may be worth it. One of the first experiments my graduate student did
was to see how few beads he could really use in an assay!
Their primary purpose of course is for quantitating the number of receptors
on leukocytes
