Auto-Directory

Have any of you ever heard of software for automatic managment of a
directory by email? The idea would be to accept two kinds of email at
the directory email address, which would reply automatically. One
kind of mail would be a request to register or update a name, address,
email address, phone numbers, etc. The other kind of mail would be a
request for information on a named individual.
