Subject: Elite software and Windows 95
Date: Friday, August 02, 1996 1:04PM
We are looking to upgrade our 486 PC on our Coulter Elite and install a new
Pentium and finally enter the 1990's. However, Coulter is unable to answer
questions about their software and Windows 95. Therefore, I have several
questions:
1. Can I run the Dos version (v4.2) of the software in a DOS window on
Windows 95 and collect data from the Elite (or do I have to install DOS 6.22
or something like that)?
2. Has anyone tried the Elite for Windows software? I know, it is very
expensive! Is it any good? Does it work acquiring data under Windows 95?
Coulter will only answer questions about it under Windows v3.1.
3. I have heard that some people have had problems connecting pentiums to
their Elites. What things should I watch out for? Anything I should stay
away from?
4. I am using the old Mitsubishi Optical Disk Unit, the 600MB optical drive
system. What are the better systems out there for long-term archival
storage of data?
Well, those are the questions I can thing of right now. I welcome any input
that you may have. Thank you, in advance, for your help.
