Howard, as usual, put the issue in perspective. I can only add that in
over 10 years of performing TO reticulocyte analysis by 488 laser line
and over 50,000 clinical samples with many an iron deficient anemia,
clinical iron deficiency in individuals with Hb A, C, F, or C do not
exhibit autofluorescence higher than iron replete individuals. As for the
Hb E state, I remain clueless.
