RE: UV fluorochromes

Cascade Blue or AMCA work well with UV excitation but their emissions (maxima at
420 nm and 440 nm respectively) may have too much spectral overlap to be used
simultaneously. Both of these dyes have quite a broad emission spectrum (see the
Molecular Probes Handbook, 1992-1994). Both DAPI and Hoechst emit at 450 nm max.
but are very bright with a broad fluorescence emission making it unlikely that
they can be run simultaneously with either Cascasde Blue or AMCA. A good
reference for these dyes is "Practical Flow Cytometry, 3rd edition, by Howard
Shapiro, pp. 245".

It is possible to run Cascade Blue and Propidium Iodide together using a single
UV excitation line if you need to perform phenotypic analysis and DNA, although
this may not meet the needs of your application if you have to analyse viable
cells.
