The printer has plug-in interface cards. One can buy from HP cards for
parallel interface (Centronics, 25 pin on a PC), serial (RS-232C, 25 pin
mini-D), GP-IB (as shipped with HP computers), or AppleTalk (DIN connector).
Information about part numbers should be available from HP (try their World
Wide Web site). HP-PaintJet driver software for Windows or Mac System 7 (it
will be listed as the HP-PaintWriter, as I recall) is available for free over
the Internet from Microsoft or Apple.
Although the printer is no longer manufactured, it produces very good color
prints and will print HP LaserJet output in black and white. If you already
have the printer, the $100 or so it costs for a new interface card makes for
a cheap color printer.
