This is in response to Bruce Davis' query concerning fetal RBC detection
by flow. There is an excellent source of information on this subject in
the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Vol 731titled Fetal Cells
in Maternal Blood: Prospects for Noninvasive Prenatal Diagnosis ed by Joe
Leigh Simpson and Sherman Elias 1994. Additionally, we have used CD71
and/or Glycophorin A to identify fetal nucleated cells in PB with
marginal results. The frequency is low 1 in 10^6 so it is a difficult
assay. Good Luck.
