Rather than buying BD's package of :
1.) Processor upgrade (to PowerPC 604/ 120MHz)
2.) PCI bus upgrade
3.) Power PC version of Cellquest
4.) V-PROM chip, or some such thing
for approximately $ 9,000, it seems more efficient to buy the software
(about $ 1,000 ?) and a stand alone PowerMac ($ 3,000). In that way I
have a second station for data analysis. Acquisition should work fine
on the Mac Quadra 650 with the old Cellquest and the real benefit of the
PowerPC speed is in the analysis of my huge data files.
