It is likely that the Profile to FCS conversion uses a different keyword
for the $TOT; I think Coulter used to use $TOTAL for this.
You can ftp from
ftp.cyto.purdue.edu
login as "anonymous" and use your email address for the password.
In the /pub/purdue directory is
keys.exe and
lookup.exe
and their documentation, which will let you find keyword values in
FCS files, and
setkey.exe
and its documentation, which will let you edit current keywords, or
add new ones to FCS files.
You'll want to use KEYS to see what's in one of the Profile files, and
figure out what the total events keyword is, then use LOOKUP on individual files
you need to change, to get the actual total, then use SETKEY to put that
total into the file with the $TOT keyword attached.
Those programs are written for PC-DOS.
