It is my impression that NetBSD is a free Unix like linux. The differences
are that NetBSD already has a 680x0 Mac port, and an HP3xx port on the way.
(The 680x0 Mac linux port will be released in a few months, but I haven't
heard of any plans for an HP3xx port of linux.)
Note: my information obtained from comp.os.386bsd and comp.os.linux.
