I have a new position in my facility and I am trying to find the perfect

We all know how good "word of mouth" is in the flow community!! This is a
technician position requiring some knowledge/experience in flow cytometry
and/or immunohistochemistry. A background in Immunology is necessary. The

TITLE: RESEARCH TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: Ben May Institute
DIVISION: Biological Sciences Division
REPORTS TO: Dr. Jeffrey Bluestone/Julie A. Auger
JOB CODE: To be determined by UHRM
SALARY SCALE: To be determined by UHRM and Dr. Jeffrey Bluestone
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The basic function of this position is to carry out assays under the
supervision of the
responsible investigator and appropriate lab director. The individual will
be involved in projects
involving production and purification of immunotheraputic reagents for
research and clinical
purposes. The individual will also monitor immune parameters in patients in
phase I and II clinical
trials.
SPECIFICS:
1. The individual must be able carry out a variety of moderate to complex
laboratory
techniques including: tissue cell culture of monoclonal antibody producing
cell lines, biochemical
analysis of proteins using gel electrophoresis, purification of antibodies
using affinity purification
columns, ELISA assay development and implementation, immunohistochemistry
techniques, blood
separation techniques and analysis of human peripheral blood cells including
proliferation assays and
flow cytometric analysis.
2. The individual must be able to collect data and critically analyze
individual experiments
under the supervision of the responsible investigator and maintain adequate
notebooks. Record
keeping is extremely important.
3. The individual will participate in the analysis and design of
experiments with the
responsible investigator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry or
equivalent training in
the biological sciences.
EXPERIENCE: Previous laboratory experience in immunology, biochemistry or
cellular biology is
preferred. Above techniques will be taught where necessary.
