A neighboring institution just asked for our opinion regarding the use
of the Ortho Cytoron Absolute for multiparametric DNA analysis
in cultured carcinoma cell lines. While I am aware of some of the
pro's and contra's of the use of the Facscan and Profile II for DNA
analysis, I do not know anyone who is doing the same type of
analysis on a Cytoron.
The Cytoron seems to have a rather narrow laser beam (5 um in one
direction). The instrument has an integrated pulse processor for the
red fluorescence channel. S-phase analysis includes the
"Dean"-model.
My question is, whether anyone can report some practical
experience about combined DNA and immunofluorescence analysis
on the instrument.
Thanks for any comments
Gregor Rothe
