Establishment of Mirror Sites

Cutting down on Transfer Times

- The increasing utilization of the www-net by many users, including cytometrists, sometimes causes long waiting times for screen build up. One of the possibilities to shorten waitings times is the setup of mirror sites. This is especially useful for transatlantic communications.

- The establishment of a mirror site for the Purdue University homepages, E-mail archive and educational pages is a first step in this direction. The present installation is only a partial mirror since e.g. all images and also the E-mail messages and the subfiles of the Educational pages are still called on-line from Purdue.

- To cancel the time consuming transfer of the images, it is highly recommended to inactivate the Autoload Image option of the network browsers (Option menu) prior to mirros site access.
