CFI (Corrected Fluorescence Intensity) is designed for users of Becton-Dickinson FACScan (or FACStar) Research Software for the HP 310 computer series. This B-D software reports log-acquired fluorescence intensities in channel numbers representing log intensities, and (unlike C30) has no option for converting the log intensities to a linear intensity scale. CFI takes in a log-scale channel number and calculates a linear intensity which may be corrected for blank and/or adjusted to kilo molecules of equivalent soluble fluorescein (KMESF, if a suitable standard bead is used). The conversion of log data to a linear scale offered by CFI **MUST** be performed before meaningful fluorescence intensity comparisons, corrections, or ratios can be calculated. CFI was written by Eric Martz and is copyrighted (c) 1992 by Eric Martz. Permission is hereby given for free use of these programs by nonprofit institutions or by individuals for non-profit purposes.
