OBJECTIVE

To be trained in state-of-the-art molecular biological techniques and grow in a scientific environment that will allow me to become a productive, skilled scientist.   My area of interest is Molecular immunology and Protein bio-chemistry. I am keen to join in your Institute as I believe that through this, and my level best efforts, I will achieve my aspirations.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

-          Presently pursuing my MS in Molecular biology specialization in biotechnology at University of Skövde, Sweden.

-          Completed M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Bangalore University, India, in 2001 with first division.

-    B.Sc. in Microbiology from Osmania University, India in 1999 with first division.

-  Intermediate examination from board of intermediate education in 1996 with first division.

-   Secondary School Certificate from board of secondary education in 1994 with first division

SKILLS

Proficient in molecular biology techniques (e.g. cell culture, mammalian/bacterial cell transfection, sub cellular fractionation of mammalian cells, PCR, DNA sequencing, Southern blotting, Western blotting, and cloning techniques).

EXPERIENCE

5 years experience in Sri Sai Degree & post Graduate College, Hyderabad, India, as a faculty in Biotechnology.

DIPLOMA WORK

Nuclear trafficking of IL-15

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Two isoforms of Interleukin-15 have been identified varying only in their leader peptide 21 and 48. In IL-15 LSP part of the IL-15/ IL-15Rα is proposed to be translocated into the nucleus after internalisation.  Previous studies (Waldmann and Tagayya) have shown that the internalisation of the IL-15 receptor complex is dependent upon a nuclear localisation signal.  However, in COS-7 cells IL-15 translocation into the nucleus is IL-15Rα independent. The goal of the project is the identification of the nuclear targeting signal(s), which could be located in IL-15, IL-15Rα or both, and which are used to translocate the IL-15 receptor complex to the nucleus.  To this end I have produced point mutations in IL-15 SSP and testing in the COS-7 cell system the effect of these mutations on Il-15 SSP translocation to the nucleus.

 PRACTICAL EXPOSURE

Experiments performed during Molecular biology course:

  • Cloning of export signals by in vivo gene fusions using bla (β-lactamase) as a reporter gene
  • detection and separation of quorum sensing signals by agar-plate based bioassay
  • Optimization  of PCR
  • DNA sequencing.
  • Southern blotting
  • Western blotting
  • RT-PCR
  • Chromosome Isolation and identification from tumor cell cultures
